DAILY DOUBLE:
The bettor must select the winners of two consecutive races (Races One and Two)
WHEELING:
If you have a strong top selection you can "key" him to all of the other greyhounds in the race. This strateyg capitalizes on the strength of your key selection and can result in a substantial payoff if the second half of the winning combination is a long shot.
BOXING:
After making your selections, you play all possible combinations in the quinella, trifecta, etc. If your selections in a quinella, for eample, were numbers 3, 4, and 7, you would tell the clerk, "box 3, 4, and 7." In effect you are making the following wagers: 3-4, 3-7, and 4-7. Thus, by boxing you have actually played three combinations. At $2 per ticket, your ticket cost for three combinations would be $6.
TRI-SUPER:
The Tri-Super is conducted on races six and eight, and is aa $1 minimum wager. The monies wagered on the Tri-Super are divided into two pools. Winning trifecta tickets on the first race of the Tri-Super share the first pool and are cashed and exchanged (at no additional cost) for a superfecta ticket on the second race of the Tri-Super. Bettors who correctly pick the superfecta in race eight collect the second part of the pool and any jackpot pools that have been carried over from previous events. If there are no winning tickets in the second half of the Tri-Super, the monies from the second pool are carried over to the second pool of the next event's Tri-Super as a special jackpot pool. The Tri-Super has a mandatory jackpot payout - Every other Sunday! The mandatory jackpot payout is as follows: If no one correctly picks the superfecta in the eight race on the mandatory payout date, then the pool will be shared by those bettors who hold an exchange ticket from the first half (race six) of that day's Tri-Super.
TWIN-TRI:
The Twin-Tri is conducted on races ten and twelve and is a $2 minimum wager. The monies wagered on the Twin-Tri are divided into two pools. Winning trifecta tickets on the first race of the Twin-Tri share the first pool and are cashed and exchanged (at no additional cost) for a trifecta ticket on the second race of the Twin-Tri. Holders of winning tickets on the second race of the Twin-Tri collect the second part of the pool, and any jackpot pools that have been carried over from previous events. If there are no winning tickets in the second half of the Twin-Tri, the monies from the second pool are carried over to the second pool of the next event's Twin-Tri as a special jackpot pool. The Twin-Tri has a mandatory payout every Thursday night. If no one correctly picks the trifecta in the twelfth race on Thursday night's card then the pool will be shared by those bettors who hold an exchange ticket from the first half (race ten) of Thursday's Twin-Tri.
* TwinTri Mandatory Payout Every Thursday Evening!
$1 General Admission $1 Soft Drinks $1 Hot Dogs $1 Draft Beer Every Friday! |
* Superfecta Sunday Every Other Sunday! Super, Super Sundays! On alternating weeks: TriSuper Mandatory Payout and Superfecta Sunday! You're always a winner on Sundays at The Woodlands! No matter which Sunday of the month you're here, we're either paying out the Tri-Super or giving you Superfecta wagering on almost every race! It's a super, super day!!!

If the past performances are the pieces of the puzzle, handicapping is putting the puzzle together. Here is a simple method of handicapping to use at the track:
As you handicap, read each greyhound's past performances from the bottom to the top. Start with the bottom race and work your way up to the dog's most recent performance. This method will enable you to read the story of the dog's performances in its proper sequence. Most handicappers believe that the following four categories are the most important:
A) CLASS. Watch for greyhounds that are dropping in class, or grade. There can be a big difference in the level of competition from one grade to another. Greyhounds that have not been winning at a higher level may improve dramatically when they drop in grade.
B) TIME. Pay close attention to the greyhound's actual running time. Look through his past performances and locate his fastest time at teh distance of today's race.
C) POST POSITION. Make sure that your selection ahs performed well from his starting box position. Most greyhounds develop a preference for a particular part of the track.
D) TROUBLE. Disregard any performance that was affected by interference. The comment column will indicate if the dog was bumped hard, pinched back, etc. Such trouble can effectively eliminate the greyhound from competition and the race should not be a handicapping consideration.
